My husband and I drove down to Crystal today for the first time since Hurricane Ike. We went to see what is left of the cabin that we rent every year (nothing). So many good, fun memories. Such terrible destruction! But so much activity everywhere! And the beach and the water looked really clean. We left feeling sad, but also feeling very hopeful that the community will come back.
We were wondering if the beach water has been tested. We would like to bring our grandsons down to the beach for the day and we want to make sure that it is safe.
Thanks so much.
How's the water?
we have a house down there and I don%26#39;t know if it is me or if the storm flushed out the bay and the area. I am no expert but the bay and the beach side have been very blue/green since the storm. We went out in the bay to fish about a month age and checked with Texas Parks and Wildlife and there were no unusual warnings for fish being harvested out of the area.
How's the water?
That%26#39;s sounds good....thanks.
We are renting a cabin in Crystal next month to keep our annual tradition alive. I read recently where the water is fine, but now I%26#39;m wondering about the debris. Do you think it all went in the bay? Should I worry about the
grandkids swimming in the beach water....like stepping
on something?
What about fishing in the surf?
It will be a different trip this time, but we are
excited about it. I%26#39;m just a worrying Grandma....
We have four kids that the minute we get there are in the water. The county/state/gov has done a good job on keeping the beaches clean of storm debris. I think it is because they know the beaches are the revenue draw. I was down last week and the beaches had been raked and looked great. There will always be a concern with something washing up but we have not had any issues to date. I am so glad to hear you are keeping the tradition and coming back. I know all the local buisness appreciate it too.

Yes, I guess there%26#39;s always a concern of debris
washing up, hurricane or not.
It%26#39;s great to hear
that the beach is being kept clean. More people will
come, for sure.
Thanks, tvick, for the information. We are looking forward to our annual trip to Crystal Beach.
