First of all i hate flying how long does it take to get there from manchester,

From Manchester, I think it%26#39;s 10 or 11 hours. You could cut a little time by getting a direct to Houston or Dallas, and driving the remainder, but that still leaves you a 3- or 4-hour drive at the end. Probably better to fly...

You can find all kinds of cheap places to stay, but at the ~$100/night range, you can find someplace fairly nice.

As for alternate routes / detours, I could imagine a lot. What would you be looking for?

Don%26#39;t know how long it takes to fly here. There are lots of reasonable places to stay. Do you want to stay on the Riverwalk???? What do you like to do??? What are you looking for in a stay????

Also what detour%26#39;s are you preferring to by the hotels or in route to San Antonio.??????

San Antonio is know as the party city, SA is always celebrating something %26amp; is very reasonable in price compare to other big cities.
