Planning an anniversary trip early July. Thinking about driving to Corpus Christi by way of Austin. I heard Austin is good for nightlife %26amp; music. We especially like smooth jazz and also Dave Matthews Band style music.

get there early for a table! If you get a table in the back of the place (furthest away from the stage)you can still carry on a coversation while the band is playing. Otherwise, it can be a bit loud for talking - just fyi

I%26#39;m not a huge fan of smooth jazz, but Austin is indeed a great place for live music, and with so many venues, I%26#39;m sure you can find something to your liking. The week or so before you arrive, check out the music listings in the Austin Chronicle -- austinchronicle.com/gyrobase/鈥usicListings
In addition to the obvious music venues and bars, lots of restaurants have live music on the weekends. These bands are likely to be more along the lines of smooth jazz or music that you can enjoy while eating and chatting as opposed to a loud concert.
