Corpus Christi Trip??

I am trying to plan a vacation for our 17th wedding anniversary.

My current idea is Corpus Christi or South Padre Island, but not sure how hot/humid it would be then. I%26#39;m just beginning to check out area attractions %26amp; hotels, so maybe someone has some info or suggestions.

We love smooth jazz so would like to maybe catch a concert or festival somewhere.

We also want to go soemplace beachie or near a lake/body of water, with a hotel on the water or with a view of it.

I heard Austin is good for music and thought we could spend a few days there on the way to Corpus Christi perhaps.

Thoughts??

If you are planning on stopping in Austin for music then Corpus will be closer by a couple of hours than South Padre. Port Aransas/mustang Island is the place I would stay, not Corpus as it doesn%26#39;t have good beaches. There are many beachfront condos in Port Aransas, it is a laid back fishing village. We love it but also spend time in South Padre, beaches are better there. It will be hot anywhere in Texas from May- Sept. While at the beach I don%26#39;t notice the heat as much because of the ocean breeze.

Please do not confuse the bay beaches of Corpus Christi v. Port A. You can stay out on the island @ Corpus and they are just as nice as Port A. Quite frankly, the best beaches are on the National Seashore, but its a drive from Corpus and has an entry fee.

Not sure where you are going to pick a smooth jazz concert. Austin is the live music captial of the world.

Do not know when you are planning to travel but Corpus Christi hosts the annual Texas Jazz Festival in October.
