Stockyards help please????

My wife and I are returning to Fort Worth this summer for a second time and need some advice. Last trip we being huge country music fans, spent most of our leisure time in the Stockyards where we vowed at that time that the next time we would get a hotel there so we could do the honkeytonks and not have to drive. That said, we are finding that hotels in that area run $200/night so are wondering how cab service is to and from the Stockyards. We are noticing cheap accomodations just a couple miles north of the Stockyards and might book if we know we can easily get cabs.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Cabs are actually fairly easy to get in FW- just remember cabs in Texas are ones you call, they won%26#39;t be sitting on the corner waiting. Put some local cab company phone numbers in your cell phone (easy to get out of the phone book or on-line), then you can call them back afterward. Restaurants and clubs are fairly helpful with calling cabs as well. Also, I have had cabbies give me their card when dropping off to call them directly when I am ready to leave the Stockyards.

Thank you poodleone, will probably book in North Fort Worth and cab.

Also, staying in downtown (Sundance square) has some really nice hotels (Embassy Suites, etc.) and is very close. Go to sidestep.com and you can do some price comparisons.
