beach trip next week

We have made several trips to galveston in the last few years. I have several favorite restaurants but would love to know some of the locals favorites - not afraid to try a dive! (and I am unable to find out what has re-opened and what is still closed?) And suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Glad you%26#39;re coming back to see us!

My favorites on the island are The Press Box (on Post Office and 24th - great for burgers, hot dogs etc), Salsa%26#39;s (Mexican food, great chicken enchiladas, on Seawall near the San Luis Resort), Saltgrass (on Seawall, know there are a few of these but the steak is pretty good I hear).

One of my favorite places used to be Original Mexican Cafe on 14th and Market, but quite honestly, it hasn%26#39;t been the same since the management changed, I wouldn%26#39;t bother.

In terms of what has reopened, we are pretty much back to where we were, barring a few places just in the final stages of renovation. If you like quirky coffee shops, you should try Mod on Post Office Street, it just reopened a couple of weeks ago. Another great coffee shop is Lasso A Latte, on Seawall and 6th.

A good website to check on openings is www.galveston.com. They should have a clear ';open'; or ';closed'; listing for restaurants.

Hope that helps!

thanks so much! Is the fish market in west galveston still open? I don%26#39;t remember the name- but we used to get all our fresh shrimp there.

There%26#39;s a seafood market at the light for Pirate%26#39;s in the shopping center with the General Store that%26#39;s open.
