Anyone have a Texas beach recommendation for a family weekend getaway with a 5-yr-old? We love Port Aransas but want to try something else. South Padre is too far of a drive from Georgetown where we live, so any ideas anywhere between/around Corpus Christi to Galveston?
If you do have a location recommendation, do you have a hotel/condo recommendation, too?

Best beach for kids?
I perfer the beach at the National Seashore. Its clean, not very crowded and has facilities. The Holiday Inn Sunspree is a nice place to stay.

I would suggest the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach downtown Corpus Christi. It has an indoor playscape for the kids as well as an indoor pool and the beach is right out the back door. The property is a bit dated but the amenities are perfect for young kids.

We enjoy taking our kiddo%26#39;s to Matagorda and Surfside. Both are great as Tx beaches go. But Surfide is seems to be less prone to under-tows.
