Planning a trip to Hill Country for June or July, thinking of using Boerne as home camp. Would like recommendations on RV park, restaurants and things to do with 13 yr. olds. Anywhere around Boerne for tubing? Thank you.

There is Alamo RV park in Boerne itself. The State Park is about 20 miles away. No place around Boerne to tube really, you can in the State Park but it not that great, and if we do not get a lot of rain the river will be down to a trickle. You will need to head to New Braunfels or San Marcos for good tubing, but its a poor season.

Places to eat. There not really what I would call child friendly in Boerne, they all have kids menus but thats about it. In Leon Springs, Scenic Loop Cafe is very kid friendly, outdoor play area, live music on weekends, and very good food too. Also in Leon Springs, Rudys (excellent BBQ and the origional location), Longhorn Burgers (soso Burgers), Papa Nachos (Fajitas are very good the rest of the menu soso), The Grill (way overpriced, Angelos (good food here, locals mainly, if you are lucky you might see a spur or two here) Fralios Art of Pizza, (good pizza but not really to my taste for pie).

In Boerne itself you have Tin Roof steak house, it gets great reviews, but I do not think its that great. The Creek, its very good, Limestone Grill, its ok, they are way to pushy on the wine and they are not the good, Peachtree, only open for lunch, its good, Boerene Vistro is ok, then of course Chilis, Wendy, McD%26#39;s etc. Also North of town at the walfare exit is Popo%26#39;s (Great fried chicken, pan fried, not deep fried)

There are two caves in Boerne, my favorate is Cave Without a Name. Fishing in the Town lake, but the water is low and the fishing is not good there until after a small flood. If the water is not going over the dam pass on the fishing there and head to the City Lake just outside of town. Enchanted Springs racnh is just out of town on 46 heading the Bandera its ok.

Outside of Comfort is the Bat Train Tunnel. Arrive early, seating and parking is very limited.
