Restaurants for a family on a budget

We visited S. Padre last year and spent way more than we would have liked and most of the time the food was not that great. Wondered if we just picked poorly. We tried Benny%26#39;s by the Bay and we liked their breakfast. We tried Sea Ranch and that was good but a bit pricey. South Padre Brewing Co. was great at lunch, but when we took our friends back at dinner we were embarassed that we had bragged about it. I think it was Palm Street Pier that my friends took us to... I was happy but hubby wasn%26#39;t. Any suggestions?

If you are on a budget cook meals, lunches in your condo (I%26#39;m assuming you will have a kitchen), so the meals you have out won%26#39;t break the bank. We ate at Palm st., Blackbeards, Pirate%26#39;s Landing, Garcia%26#39;s all with good results.

Unfortunately, cooking is not an option. We will be staying at the Sheraton (courtesy of my hubby%26#39;s boss) so we will not have a kitchen. I called the hotel... they do not have microwaves in the room... so we will have to eat out every meal, which can get quite expensive for a family of four. My kids are older so I can%26#39;t even count on kids eat free specials or kiddie menus for a break.

Try some of the smaller places...in Port Isabel, Manuel%26#39;s for breakfast and lunch, behind the carwash. Across from the post office is Los Cabos...very inexpensive for breakfast and lunch. Pirate%26#39;s Landing does have good food and lots of it for a reasonable price for dinner. Because it is a tourist town and because summer is high season, food on SPI is pricey. Try Cap%26#39;n Roy%26#39;s, on Padre Boulevard, across from Isola Bella Condos...great seafood.
