Is the Natural Bridge Cavern one of the places to go to with a 3 yo and a 22-month? Will it be too boring for them?
Natural Bridge Cavern for a 3 yo and 22-month
It%26#39;s hard to say, it depends on what interest them.
did you check out the website to see if it meets your criteria. www.naturalbridgecaverns.com
What might really interest them is the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch www.wildliferanchtexas.com
SA Children Museum www.sakids.org
Buckhorn Saloon %26amp; Museum www.buckhornmuseum.com
Have a great visit.
Natural Bridge Cavern for a 3 yo and 22-month
The cavern tour itself will probably be somewhat boring for them. They will have to stay on the trails with the group and are not allowed to touch the formations. Some of the formations will be fun to see for the 3-year old. There are activities there that they might enjoy. Panning for gems is a great family activity and the drive thru wildlife park is fun.
Honestly, my younger one loved it when he was 20 months old, but it is actually a bit dangerous for kids under 5. The rocks are slippery, and some of the drops are precarious. There are railings in the more dangerous areas, but you know how small kids are around railings...
Outside, there are some hands-on activities such as panning for treasure in a sluice. But, my money would be on the drive-through wildlife park next door, for those ages.
We%26#39;ve taken our grandchildren to the caverns when they visited as a fun outting. They were probably a few months-2 years at the time. The older one enjoyed it, the youngest was too young of course. I do think the drive through the adjacent animal park would probably be fun as well.
A word of warning anyone else who decides to go. You will take a local road known as 3009, (Natural Bridge Caverns Road), to get there from I-35. There is a notorious speed trap along the section that goes through my fair city, Garden Ridge. There is one spot where the speed limit drops from 55 to 40 mph near a traffic light. Do not, under any circumstances, go faster than 45...they sit just over the crest of hill in one spot, and down low off the side of the road in another. They will get you!! Actually...they like to stop you for any infraction. 3 of us at a party Saturday had been stopped and given warnings for not having a front license plate...one of us stopped twice in a week, so it must be their ';new thing';! LOL
